Anamorphose
Artist: Fabio Rieti (1925-2020)
Creation date: 1985
Installation date: 1985
Technique: Glass paste
This 60-metre-long, 2.50-metre-wide work in pâte de verre offers a masterly lesson in trompe l'œil. Depending on the angle of view, passers-by can decipher the artist's brush painting a kiss and a little girl running, or a masterful flight of birds. The work is located in the underground pedestrian passageway leading to the Parking Centre Grande Arche, Place de La Défense.
A word about the artist
Fabio Rieti was born in Rome in 1927. In his urban work (the false windows at Beaubourg, the pedestrian at Les Halles, etc.), he enhances architecture with facades colored in glass paste mosaics. His range of earth, sky and sea colors exalts the poetic sense of place. His work also adapts to the darkness of underground or open-air spaces, delivering a palette of harmonious nuances.
