Dans les traces de nos pères

Artist: Jozeph Jankovic (1937)
Installation date: 1988
Techniques: Concrete, polyester composite, paint

An exhibition at La Défense on Czech and Slovak art inspired Epad to call on the talent of Jozef Jankovic. The result is a lyrical, contemporary work full of emotion, depicting children sprouting from their parents' legs. The work is made of polyester and painted concrete.

A word about the artist

Jozef Jankovic was born in Slovakia in 1937. After studying sculpture at the Bratislava School of Fine Arts, he turned to stone and polyester as his preferred materials, while perfecting his computer drawing skills. Equally at home in monumental works and jewelry-making, he acquires a keen sense of detail. The human being remains his main source of inspiration, which he depicts in 27 visions expressing violence and disillusionment.
