Hercules in the wind

Hercules in the wind
Artist: Léo Caillard (1985)
Creation date: 2024

Techniques: Steel, 3D printed resin
Installed at the foot of the Latitude building, in the new landscaped pedestrian square created by Paris La Défense, Léo Caillard has created a resin bust of the demigod, entitled “Hercules in the wind”, in a monumental format - over three metres high and two metres wide.
As is often the case in his work, the artist drew his inspiration from statues and iconography of Antiquity, while twisting classical tradition to deliver his own reinterpretation. The bust's movement, bringing opposing elements into dialogue (solid-liquid, hardness-softness...), echoes the very movement of the Latitude building and its uncluttered façade.
A word about the artist
With his meticulous, plastic approach, French artist Léo Caillard brings past and present into dialogue in his works, inviting us to question our relationship with time and history with fresh eyes.
Seeking to arouse curiosity or surprise with a touch of humor through his anachronistic associations, the artist raises real questions about our social habits and engages us in reflection on the role of art and the representation of the world it gives us to see.
