Rezilientia
Rezilientia
Artist: Ghyslain Bertholon (1972)
Technique: bronze sculpture
The bronze sculpture Rezilientia, installed on the esplanade of Paris La Défense, is part of Ghyslain Bertholon’s artistic concerns. Rezilientia "takes up, in an allegorical way, the theory of Boris Cyrulnik, a French neuropsychiatrist, who in the 90s popularized the concept of resilience in psychoanalysis, which consists in continuing to develop after a trauma, but differently", according to Bertholon. «One day in November 2019, I sketched in my notebook the quick sketch of a burned stump in which is stuck an axe whose handle seems to come back to life. At that time, the continent of Australia was literally consumed by flames from huge fires.”
