The result of a consultation launched by Paris-La Défense in 2018, the OXYGEN program aims to restructure and revitalize the district's southern gateway. This atypical garden stands out for its innovative approach to landscaping. Jardin Oxygen is a veritable green lung in the midst of the La Défense towers. It features a wide variety of plants and flowers, some of which are rare or endangered, as well as a fountain that adds a touch of coolness in summer. The park is also equipped with benches, picnic tables and shaded areas for visitors to relax and enjoy nature in the open air. Finally, Jardin Oxygen is a place for ecological experimentation, using organic growing techniques and sustainable materials to minimize its impact on the environment.
This project is part of the overall strategy to transform the business district into a lifestyle district. The project, which combines catering, events and coworking space, aims to go beyond the traditional image of the office district to create a hybrid space. The walkway, which offers a breathtaking view of Neuilly-sur-Seine and Paris, is now accompanied by vegetation alternating between flowering perennials and grasses, offering a palette of colors that changes with the seasons. The planters house shrubs such as serviceberry, winged fusain, spear viburnum and Japanese quince, as well as flowering perennials and tall (calamagrostis) and low (stipa tenuifolia) grasses.
This area was awarded the Eco-jardin label in 2022.
