The former Défense 2 building becomes Edenn
The demolition and reconstruction project for the Défense 2 building, with a floor area of approximately 30,000 m² and known as “Edenn,” was completed in 2025.
Located at the intersection of Boulevard de La Défense, Boulevard des Bouvets, and Rue Célestin Hébert, the building is situated between Origine, the new Vinci Campus known as L'Archipel, and the Axa headquarters in Nanterre.
Edenn features office spaces on the upper floors, building-specific services on the podium level, and retail spaces open to the public on the ground floor. The continuous ground floor features urban courtyards facing the existing boulevards, greenery on the patios and tree-lined walkways, as well as green roofs.
A mixed-use development combining wood, concrete, and metal
Like its neighbor Origine, Edenn was developed using a hybrid structure of wood, concrete, and metal in order to meet the “highest environmental standards and certifications (HQE Excellent, BREEAM Excellent, E+C E3C2-, BiodiverCity, LEED Platinum, BBCA, OSMOZ, R2S 3-star).” Numerous green spaces adorn the various levels of Edenn.
The building features a tree-lined alleyway of nearly 850 m², lined with benches, open to the public, and connecting Boulevard des Bouvets and Boulevard de la Défense. The building’s exterior envelope is itself extensively vegetated. The selection of plant species and the creation of small habitats (dead wood, nesting boxes, shelters) will help attract local endangered wildlife (house sparrows, bats, pollinating insects, etc.). Furthermore, the Edenn building functions ecologically as a relay point for the corridor formed by the Terrasses de Nanterre, recognized as being of regional interest by the Île-de-France Regional Ecological Coherence Plan.
