While the towers at La Défense are designed according to a single template, the architects opted for horizontal facades for the Aurore tower. The solution consists in accentuating the levels with solid precast concrete spandrels and continuous bands of copper-tinted glass. The absence of load-bearing points also makes it possible to exploit this approach. Partially renovated in 1993, the Aurore Tower will soon give way to the new Aurore Tower.
A word about architects
A word about the architectsFormer studio mates, all graduates of the Institut d'urbanisme de Paris, Claude Damery (1929), Pierre Vetter (1930) and Gilbert H.Weil (1931) founded their firm in 1956. They built numerous facilities and housing estates, including 485 of the 1,100-home îlot Bièvre in Paris's 13th arrondissement. The Aurore tower is their only creation at La Défense.
