Le Diamant is one of the few buildings whose shape and style stand out from the large-scale developments in La Défense. The only office building on a block normally reserved for residential use, it blends in with its surroundings. Its irregular layout and generous lighting help to integrate it into the urban landscape.

The white stone cladding of the facades contrasts with the smoked glass walls that were mainly used at the time. These architectural choices tend to make an office building, which is often characterized by its radicalism, seem more ordinary.

A word about architects

Thierry Melot (1945) founded his first agency in Dakar, Senegal, in 1972. At the time, he was the coordinating architect for the country's Petite Côte tourism development master plan. In the 1980s, he returned to Paris, where he opened a new agency with Dominique Armand. The agency was entrusted with several housing projects, including those in the Charras Nord and Fauvelles neighborhoods in Courbevoie.

In La Défense, the duo designed the Le Diamant building, located behind the Linéa.
