The Exaltis-Mazars building, located on the edge of Avenue André-Prothin, replaces a viaduct. Its presence on this difficult site is due more to its original shape than its size. While the glass facades and their blue spandrels are in keeping with the tradition of international modernism, their curved design is unlike anything else. With one side hollowed out and the other bulging, the building's gables give it an almost baroque feel.
With a hall running its entire length, designed to resemble an indoor street, Mazars-Exaltis is one of the symbols of the evolution of the La Défense district.
A word about architects
Founded in 1977 by three architects, later joined by Bernardo Fort-Brescia (1951), the Arquitectonica agency is part of a romantic trend in international modernism, as evidenced by its design of the Westin Hotel in New York. Active worldwide, it also designed the Bouygues Télécom headquarters in Issy-les-Moulineaux. In La Défense, it participated, with Partenaires Architectes, in the construction of the Exaltis-Mazars building and was then entrusted with the replacement of the Aurore tower.
Led by Jean-Philippe Bridot, who is also a partner in the Bridot Willerval agency with Bruno Willerval, the Partenaires Architectes agency designed the Vinci building on its own. In 1998, it also participated alongside Bruno Willerval's agency in the design of the Prisma tower.
