The Balzac, Newton, and Jean-Monnet buildings form a single complex. It is organized around its interior space and includes infrastructure levels at the rear, which make the work on its volumes more delicate. The facades alternate between glass walls and stone cladding. Marked by an attic floor, the latter have a more defined finish than the surrounding buildings.
Isolated from the rest, Balzac is the only building with a curved wall.
A word about the architect
Founded by Christian Blanchet, in association with Christian Malterre and Géraldine Rampon, the MBA architecture agency is best known for its residential buildings. It has designed a 158-unit housing complex in Clermont-Ferrand. Keen to integrate its designs into their urban environment, the agency has successfully built the Newton-Balzac-Jean Monnet complex on one of the most challenging sites in La Défense.
