On the south bank of the esplanade, in the midst of La Défense's renewal, the Opus 12 tower has been rebuilt and stands out with a new appearance. The spiked columns that once adorned the façade have been replaced by a lighter, more panoramic supporting structure. The floors have been enlarged to create more workspace. The technical equipment has been adapted to meet contemporary requirements. Enveloped in a double wall of clear and pearlescent glass, it takes on a new meaning. The vast, high-ceilinged lobby opens resolutely onto the esplanade and the tower's infrastructure, revealing its foundations.
A word about architects
Denis Valode (1946) and Jean Pistre (1951) founded their agency in 1977. Within 20 years, it became one of the largest in France. Its success was due in part to the reconstruction of the Lainé warehouses in Bordeaux and the construction of the L'Oréal factory in Aulnay-sous-Bois. Today, the two architects are particularly involved in the design of towers—in Saint-Denis, Lyon, Beijing, and Mumbai—and sustainable development. In La Défense, they are carrying out seven projects, including the Léonard de Vinci university center, Opus 12, and Engie B.
