Christopher Columbus at the Cité de l'Histoire from September 13, 2025
Starting September 13, 2025, come discover the new 360° show at the Cité de l'Histoire. This time, explorer Christopher Columbus will be in the spotlight. But don't worry, the other shows on the Normandy landings and Julius Caesar will still be available during your visit.
There are now three shows you can enjoy during your visit to the Cité de l'Histoire, in the Ellipse 360° space. It's a great way to travel between ancient Rome, the 15th and 20th centuries in just a few hours.
Three shows for an immersive journey
Total immersion expeditions
Discover Christopher Columbus' greatest expeditions in the Ellipse 360°. Thanks to a monumental projection, you can relive the Genoese explorer's journey from the Indies to the New World. Before the immersive show begins, actors will help you immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the 15th century. In addition, this experience will be accompanied by an educational exhibition on this period.
Relive D-Day
During your visit, you can also enjoy the show commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Normandy Landings and D-Day. Ready to go? Join us for a journey through time that will transport you to the heart of the action!
An emperor in the spotlight
The latest show to discover or rediscover is based on Roman antiquity, with a theme centered on Julius Caesar, one of the most iconic figures in history. As soon as you enter, get ready to be immersed in a striking reconstruction of Ancient Rome. With statues, columns, lighting effects, ancient music, and a majestic Roman temple, the show has some wonderful surprises in store for you.
Screening times vary depending on the show, so please check on site for more information.
New features to discover
The Ellipse 360° will be accompanied by an exhibition space with models, touch screens, backlit structures, and immersive scenography.
Children can enjoy new free 15-minute workshops to extend their immersion:
- Little Legionnaire Workshop: children can step into the shoes of a Roman soldier, learning how to wield a sword and shield and march in formation.
- Sailor's Knots Workshop: where children can learn the secrets of 15th-century explorers' sailor's knots;
- Code Breaking Workshop: where they can learn to decipher secret messages and learn about military cryptography techniques.
The immersive tour called “The Key to the Centuries” is still available, allowing you to dive into a unique experience as you explore 17 rooms and 12 centuries.
