Fragments of the Berlin Wall

Installation date: 2007

This piece of wall, acquired by the City of Courbevoie and Epad, was one of 250 segments of the Berlin Wall put up for auction.

Covered in tags and graffiti from the period, this piece of wall bears witness to the dark history of Germany's capital from the end of the Second World War until 1989. It is 20 m long, 3.20 m high and 20 cm thick. This piece of wall has been installed in front of the Galerie de la Coupole since 1996. A wall and glass panels inscribed with the names of a hundred of Europe's major cities surround this fragment. A symbol of reunification.
