Half Hare

Artist: Artur Bordalo, dit Bordalo II (1987)
Creation date: 2021
Installation date: 2022
Techniques: Recovered materials

This imposing 4 x 7-meter mural is made entirely of salvaged materials. Worn motorcycle helmets, plastic pipes, old tires or broken chairs... Bordalo II, used whatever he could pick up in the street to give life to this giant rabbit. This work is typical of Bordalo II. Nicknamed trash animals, his beautiful Frankenstein animals are as spectacular as they are militant. They denounce what's killing them: pollution and plastic waste. Through this work, created for Urban Week 2021, the artist denounces the damage caused by waste and the consequences for biodiversity.

A word about the artist

Bordalo II is a Portuguese artist specializing in animal sculptures. An artist committed to the environmental cause, his work gathers together waste materials such as used tires, car bodies and industrial debris to create artistic installations that denounce consumer society and environmental destruction. A fact he denounces in cities the world over: from Lisbon to New York, via La Défense.
