Programming: creation of a station for the westward extension of the RER E line
Terminus: Chelles/Tournan <> Nanterre La Folie (east branch of the RER E line)
Commissioning: 2024
Location: Groues district, Boulevard de La Défense (Nanterre)
The third new station in the Eole project (extension of the RER E line to the west) will be located on the Groues railway line.
This intermodal station in the heart of the renovated Groues district will contribute to its dynamism and the development of intermodality and soft modes of transport (bicycles, pedestrians, etc.). It will help to relieve congestion on the RER A line and will also be a possible alternative in the event of an incident, with a 5-minute walk between the two RER lines.
Passenger flows will be smoother, simpler, and connected to public spaces, thanks in particular to an imposing main entrance measuring 8 meters high by 12 meters wide. Fully accessible, it will welcome more than 10,000 passengers per day, with 22 trains during rush hour, 16 trains coming from the east and 6 from the west when it is fully operational between east and west.
The project to extend the RER E westward requires the development of storage tracks and a maintenance site for trains and infrastructure. The site known as the “railway island” north of Eole station (consisting of former warehouses and workshops) will be developed for the installation of storage tracks and a service building.
