Canvas, formerly known as Project Lilo, replaces the Le Guillaumet office building and offers a new housing solution for students in the area.
Located near the future station on line 15 west, the Canvas complex is on the border between La Défense and the residential area of Puteaux. With its L-shape, it makes way for a new building to replace the former Le Guillaumet office building, which was built in the late 1980s. The aim was to create a residence for students and young professionals that meets current standards and offers private and communal spaces such as a reception lobby, communal study rooms, a gym, games and relaxation rooms, a cinema and music room, a dining area, and green outdoor spaces accessible on the ground floor and garden level.
The Axel Schoenert architects agency was commissioned to restructure and build the student and young professional residence. In 2024, 644 student studios were created at 60 Avenue du Général de Gaulle.
A word about architects
Axel Schoenert founded the Franco-German agency Axel Schoenert Architects with interior designer Zsofia Varnagy in Paris in 1999. The agency prioritizes building reversibility and sustainable construction management in its projects and aims to obtain the most demanding environmental certifications and labels.
Among its most recent projects are the complex restructuring and new construction of the former RTL headquarters using a wooden structure, the UFO building that houses the offices of the Leboncoin Group, the 102 Charonne project, Wework in Paris, and the construction of Canvas.
