Summer is still in full swing, and the start of the new school year is just around the corner – the perfect time to make the most of the neighbourhood’s various green spaces, take a stroll, relax… and enjoy a picnic too. So let’s get out our chequered picnic blanket and (re)discover the area’s must-visit spots for a picnic with colleagues, friends or family!
The Jardin des Reflets
In the Reflets neighbourhood, on the Courbevoie side, do pop along to explore the garden of the same name. It’s a little spot tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the neighbourhood – peaceful and green – where you can have lunch at the tables, go for a stroll, or explore its community garden. A truly relaxing experience.
The Diderot Park
Located in the town of Courbevoie, Diderot Park is one of the largest in the area and offers an exceptional setting in which to relax. Take a seat by the waterfall and enjoy the peace and quiet of the place…
The terrasses Boieldieu
In the neighbourhood of the same name in Puteaux, the Terrasses Boieldieu offer regulars and visitors alike a green space covering 16,000 m². It is also an opportunity to explore its two community gardens, the Jardin des Continents and the Jardin Suspendu, which are maintained by its members.
The steps of La Grande Arche
Fancy enjoying your lunch from a bit of a height? Climb the steps of La Grande Arche and tuck into your salad or chips whilst taking in the view of La Défense’s historic axis and the Eiffel Tower!
André Malraux Park
Located in the town of Nanterre, it is the largest park in the area, covering more than 25 hectares. André Malraux Park features lawns, play areas, a lake and a canal. It’s the perfect place to go for a stroll in the sunshine during your lunch break.
The Terrasses of Nanterre
Take a stroll behind La Grande Arche and the Paris La Défense Arena to reach the Terrasses de Nanterre. There, you can settle down on the 600-metre-long, leafy promenade – on the grass, in the shade of the trees or on one of the benches – for a tasty break.
Chemin de l’Île Park
This 14.5-hectare eco-park, situated on the banks of the Seine in Nanterre, is a true haven of peace for walkers. The facilities have been built using recycled materials, and beehives have been installed. The Chemin de l’Île Park is open every day from 7.00 am to 8.30 pm.
La place de La Défense
La Défense Square is a central hub of the business district. It is a meeting place for people who work in the surrounding skyscrapers and visitors who come to stroll around the business district. Following its refurbishment, La Défense Square now features a large lawn where people can settle down for a picnic and a rest.

Before any proper picnic, it’s of course important to find something to eat. Nothing could be simpler: discover our wide range of dining options in the area, or head over to enjoy the fleet of food trucks on the open space!
After your picnic, pop into the Info Centre to borrow a pack of cards, a game of Molkky or even a set of pétanque balls.
