Exhibition Sous l’Horizon, April 3–26, 2026, Salle des Colonnes
Want to explore the depths of the ocean without scuba gear or a wetsuit? Sous l’Horizon, the first exhibition of the 2026 season at Les Extatiques, takes you on a unique sensory adventure under La Grande Arche from April 3 to 26, 2026!
The ocean covers most of our planet. It regulates the climate, produces much of the oxygen we breathe, and is home to life forms that are still unknown. And yet, its depths remain largely unexplored. With Sous l'Horizon, go beneath the surface to discover a fascinating, mysterious, and vibrant world.
An immersive journey into the depths
As soon as you enter the Salle des Colonnes, the setting changes. Dim lighting, ambient sound, torch in hand and headphones on your ears: the tour takes place in small groups, like a real underwater expedition.
Guided by a sensitive and captivating narrative, composed by Mariette Navarro and narrated by Emily Loizeau, you will advance into the darkness and discover an invisible universe. Here, you don't just look at the ocean: you feel it.
Spectacular installations to discover
Four artists each immerse you in a different facet of the marine world.
The immersion begins with Antoine Bertin's resonance. From microorganisms essential to life on Earth to the heartbeat of a fish transformed into a sound experience, each step brings you a little closer to the mysteries of the deep.
Ugo Schiavi then takes you to the “midnight zone,” more than 1,000 meters below the surface. Videos and sculptures give shape to astonishing, sometimes bewildering creatures inspired by little-known abyssal species.
With Jérémie Brugidou, it's time for bioluminescence: organisms capable of producing their own light. In the darkness, this glow becomes a means of communication, defense, or seduction. An experience as poetic as it is surprising.
The journey ends in an installation designed by Shivay La Multiple, inspired by Yemayá, a mythical figure linked to the ocean. An enveloping space, conducive to pause and contemplation, to reconnect with our marine origins.
An experience that reminds us that the ocean is our origin, our breath, and our future, where worlds yet to be imagined still lie hidden...
