Join a chess tournament at Westfield CNIT on July 18, 2026

On Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Westfield CNIT shopping center invites you to explore the world of chess. From a major tournament to introductory sessions, including a unique strategic challenge that will pit 15 participants against one of the greatest chess players of all time, this day promises to be full of excitement and intellectual stimulation.

July 20 is World Chess Day. To celebrate, the Westfield CNIT shopping center is hosting an event dedicated to discovering and playing chess. Be sure to sign up to participate—and who knows, with a well-placed checkmate, you might just walk away with a prize! If you’d like to learn more, read on!

Whether you’re a chess expert or just a Level 1 player on Duolingo, you’re welcome to join us in celebrating World Chess Day! To help you enjoy the day to the fullest, Westfield CNIT invites you to join us on Saturday, July 18, 2026, for a program that has something for everyone:

• Major Tournament: From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., by registration only, a major tournament will pit the 48 participants against each other in games lasting 10 minutes each;

• Introductory Sessions: From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., open to all, professionals will be on hand to offer advice and teach you new things, regardless of your skill level;

• Simultaneous Match: From 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., registration required—take on a unique and innovative strategic challenge! You’ll face off against Grandmaster Joachim Mouhamad as he plays against several participants at the same time!

And the three finalists in the Grand Tournament and the Simultaneous Tournament will each receive an official trophy and a gift card to use at Westfield shopping centers!
