From Sunday, October 17, 2026, to Sunday, January 3, 2027, the Cité de l’Histoire invites you to experience an immersive adventure. “Who Will Find Charlemagne’s Sword?” invites you to discover history from a new perspective through a variety of experiences: immersive theater, virtual reality, projections, and interactions with actors.
Joyeuse, Charlemagne’s sword, has disappeared. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to travel through time and across the ages to find it. Choose your role—investigator, historian, or adventurer—and set out to find the famous Joyeuse. If you want to learn more, follow the guide!
In Search of the Sword
The legendary sword that crowned Charlemagne—the famous Joyeuse—has disappeared. But what has become of it? Finding it is the mission that awaits you at the Cité de l’Histoire! For 1 hour and 15 minutes, you’ll embark on an adventure through 17 rooms, encountering numerous characters and solving puzzles along the way. “Charlemagne’s Sword” is both an escape game and an immersive theater experience. Get ready—your epic journey won’t be a walk in the park… Will you manage to find Charlemagne’s sword? A one-of-a-kind adventure awaits you—to be enjoyed with family or friends!

Located beneath the Grande Arche, the Cité de l'Histoire is a unique cultural venue dedicated to exploring the great civilizations and events that have shaped our world.
