When the parking lots of Paris La Défense become art galleries

Paris La Défense is expanding its art collection! In October 2025 and January 2026, two new works of art appeared... in connection with the area's parking lots! While this approach may seem surprising, to say the least, it improves signage for accessing parking spaces while also catching the eye and delighting users.

From Vincent Broquaire's tiny climbing figures to Elsa Tomkowiak's whirlwind of bright colors, the entrances to the Paris La Défense parking lots have also become a canvas for contemporary art, just like the public spaces in the area. Whether it's “Apseil” or “Les Frontispices,” these two works are part of and enrich the permanent collection of Paris La Défense!

Apseil, or the inhabited aedicule

In the Reflets neighborhood, a kiosk has been transformed into a work of art! This pedestrian exit from the Reflets parking lot was decorated by Vincent Broquaire in October 2025. As you walk by, you will see small figures, reminiscent of maintenance workers, staged as if they were moving around the kiosk. Here, the artist plays with the perception of passersby through the use of movement effects.
Vincent Broquaire is a true adventurer! He doesn't hesitate to play with the limits of reality to create illusions and raise questions. His creative spirit allows him to bring life and dimension to existing and invisible media.

But Apseil isn't the first kiosk to be brought to life by an artist! Located in the Boieldieu neighborhood, Modo No. 52 has been transformed into a work of art thanks to the talent of French artist Eltono.

The Frontispieces, or the rainbow fresco

The interior of the Michelet parking garage is no exception! Visual artist Elsa Tomkowiak has just revisited a 250-meter-long stretch, transforming it into a vast, colorful, and lively fresco that accompanies cars from the moment they enter until they exit. The multiple shades of color transform this gray space, accompanying users on a vibrant and joyful journey, while also serving as an effective signage tool. Each of the 10 entrance doors is marked with its own color.
Elsa Tomkowiak is no stranger to the neighborhood! In 2022, she already caused a sensation when she participated in the “Les Extatiques” exhibition, bringing color to the stair risers on the esplanade!
