450 new signs will be installed in Paris La Défense

Paris La Défense is showing off its best assets! Since January 19, 2026, new signs have begun to appear in the La Défense neighborhoods. Ultimately, nearly 450 new signs will be deployed by April. The goal is to update and improve signage in public spaces by offering larger, more visible, and therefore more readable signs for users.

In an effort to be consistent and respond to the requests of users and local residents, Paris La Défense is rolling out new signage to improve travel for everyone. On the agenda are more visible signs, hotels that are easy to find, and, ultimately, user satisfaction.

450 new street signs

Between 2010 and 2011, a first wave of street signs were installed in various neighborhoods of La Défense. Fifteen years later, the signs are no longer up to date and some places are not indicated. The aim of the operation is to update street signage, but also to make it clearer, more visible, and easier to read. This update will bring the various street signs into line with the area's current color codes and match the pedestrian signage, which was updated between 2020 and 2021 on poles and maps of the area.

Another type of signage, this time for roads, is being installed in the business district. Some hotels have changed their names and others have opened in the area. These new signs, located mainly on Patrick Devedjian Boulevard, make it easier for road users to find their way to hotels. Like the street signs, these signs are larger, so you can't miss them! In total, there will eventually be:

  • 15 hotels marked;
  • 43 intersections equipped;
  • 60 complexes installed;
  • 191 slats planted.

Users' wishes granted

This display choice did not come about by chance! After numerous surveys, users of the area, including residents, students, employees, and business tourists, expressed difficulty finding their way around a vast and complex business district. The signage improvements, which began in 2020, will be completed between January and April 2026 with this final stage.

The Paris La Défense barometer, conducted by Viavoice in 2024, shows that more than 8 out of 10 users are satisfied with the signage for pedestrians. This impression has been on the rise since 2022. The district's signage, which has been improved over the years, is generally appreciated by all users, across all categories, who have noticed a growing improvement, contributing greatly to the satisfaction and overall attractiveness of the district.
