Hercules in the wind joins the Paris La Défense art collection
Installed on the forecourt of the Latitude building in the Coupole-Regnault district of La Défense, this monumental new sculpture by Léo Caillard symbolizes the meeting of contemporary art, architecture and urban planning, offering a visual and sensory experience.
With the inauguration of Léo Caillard's sculpture Hercule in the wind, Paris La Défense continues to enrich its permanent collection of contemporary art. Set in a modern, dynamic environment, this monumental work, over three metres high, blends perfectly with its urban setting.
The work in its setting
At the foot of the recently restructured Latitude building, home to Sopra Steria's teams, Hercules in the wind plays with the waves of the building's façade and the minerality of the forecourt. Léo Caillard's resin sculpture, more than three meters high and two meters wide, depicts the bust of the demigod Hercules in a dynamic posture that seems to struggle against the wind, resonating with the clean, fluid lines of Latitude. The building's forecourt provides a setting for the bust, creating an urban vision that is at once aesthetic, modern and innovative.
A talented artist
Léo Caillard is a French visual artist renowned for his innovative works that blend tradition and modernity. In his sculptures and installations, Caillard reinterprets ancient figures and symbols by placing them in a contemporary context, creating dialogues between the ages. For Hercules in the wind, he fuses the codes of classical sculpture with modern visual elements, evoking both the strength of Hercules and an almost ethereal lightness.
This work is further proof of Léo Caillard's talent for provoking thought while offering an impactful visual experience. The artist uses Paris La Défense as an expression ground for his creations, contributing to the enrichment of the district's artistic heritage.
