Michelet: Progress Report on the Work

D'octobre 2026 à janvier 2027

The Michelet neighborhood is getting a makeover. Two years after construction began, Paris La Défense provides an update on the work completed and the next phases of the project.

Located between the business district’s urban plaza and the historic center of Puteaux, the Michelet neighborhood has a distinct identity of its own: intimate, green, and vibrant with shops and restaurants at the base of the buildings. A true “small neighborhood” in the heart of the big city.

Launched in June 2024 on a 1.2-hectare site, its renovation addresses several key challenges:

  • eliminating level differences;
  • connecting the natural ground level (lower plaza) to the La Défense platform;
  • enhancing existing access points (footbridges, metro, etc.);
  • restore the site to its natural state;
  • support the transformation of office buildings;
  • provide greater comfort for users of public spaces;
  • create new connectors to forge new connections.

The Main Focus Areas of the Project

  • An ambitious landscaping plan: 191 new trees will complement the existing tree canopy, bringing the total to 300, while preserving the historic tree-lined promenade.
  • Gardens and “lounges”: Along the promenade, new landscaped areas will provide coolness and shade at the base of the towers.
  • Reuse: The porphyry pavers are being removed, cleaned, and then reinstalled. Up to 50% of the paving will thus be reused, representing nearly 5,000 m² of repaved pavers.
  • More permeable surfaces: grass-filled joints, slopes oriented toward the plantings, and optimized stormwater management.
  • Custom-designed street furniture, in a variety of shapes and sizes, echoing the alternating straight and curved lines of the site.

What's the latest?

Two years after its launch, the project has made good progress, with the subway connection set to be completed by the end of 2025.

Summer 2026: A Major Milestone in Delivery

  • completion of the final asphalt paving on Patrick Devedjian Boulevard;
  • landscaping of the lower plaza in front of The Link tower;
  • structural reinforcement of the Liaison Basse;
  • completion of public spaces surrounding The Link tower: tower entrance, monumental staircase, elevator, and plaza;
  • in front of the DS Café and Le Noon Spot shops: pavers, street furniture, and trees are now in place;
  • partial opening of the staircase, near the metro station, connecting the boulevard and the esplanade;
  • several bike racks and large benches are now accessible to the public.

Progress in September 2026

  • The StoryPlace and Andréa stores are getting their tree-lined patios back;
  • the areas around the BoBoun and Mister Garden stores are under construction and will soon give way to large patios;
  • the central promenade is being planted with plants, trees, and shrubs as early fall begins.

Next Steps

Sometime in October 2026

  • The base of the Allianz Tower will be open and connected to the rest of the central mall;
  • The second staircase between the subway and the Allianz Tower will connect the Takis Basin to the promenade.

Before Christmas 2026

  • The base of the sculpture *Les Doubles Lignes* will be reopened;
  • the promenade will be fully landscaped;
  • the avenue will be completed from east to west.

Sometime in 2027

The final phase, involving the newsstand and the entrance to the Michelet 2 parking lot, will be completed in 2027.

Completion of the project is scheduled for late 2026 (excluding Michelet 2).
