For those with a green thumb, or those looking for a relaxing activity during their lunch break or on the weekend, Paris La Défense is offering new workshops through June in three of its community gardens. Find all the information and the workshop schedule.

Themed workshops in community gardens

Throughout the year, Paris La Défense organizes themed workshops to maintain the neighborhood’s community gardens. Employees, residents, and students can come together to enjoy a moment of peace and relaxation in these unique spaces within the business district.

The Jardin des Reflets

The business district’s first community garden opened in 2016. The Jardin des Reflets, located in Courbevoie near the Aurore Tower, is a green space spanning over 3 hectares that serves as a place for community and recreation for employees and local residents. This space features growing and planting areas with various species of plants and herbs cultivated by members of the “Vivre Ensemble” association. The site was certified as an eco-garden in 2020.

The Jardin des 5 Continents

The Jardin of the 5 Continents was established in 2018, near the Terrasses Boieldieu in Puteaux. A place for gathering and sharing, it offers many advantages, such as its breathtaking view of Paris and the skyscrapers of the business district, its peaceful atmosphere, and its ideal location. Herbs, perennials, berries, vegetables, and small fruit trees pruned into palmette shapes make up the plantings, which are grown directly on concrete slabs (with topsoil added), in raised beds, or in the ground. Whether employees or residents, everyone is welcome to come recharge and garden in this special place. This garden was also certified as an eco-garden in 2022.

A new community garden for students

The Léonard-de-Vinci University Campus inaugurated its community garden in the Faubourg de l’Arche neighborhood in March 2026. The Jardin des Collines is a project supported and carried out by Paris La Défense to provide autonomy and space for students in the deVinci Durable association. On 150 square meters, they will be able to grow fruits and vegetables, but also nurture human connections. The harvested food will be shared with an association at the Léo Cook Campus, which provides meal baskets filled with fresh, local, and environmentally friendly products for students.

37.35 hectares of green space—and more to come!

The area comprises 37 hectares of green spaces, including 11 parks and 4 community gardens, and there’s no end in sight! With each of its development projects, the Paris La Défense public agency is adding more and more green spaces to the area, which offer the triple benefit of combating heat islands, bringing life and a sense of community, and, of course, providing greenery! Looking back, since 2019, more than 10,600 m² of green spaces have been added to the neighborhood, which has made it possible, in particular, to green 35% of the pedestrian zones. The neighborhood also boasts 3,847 trees of 113 different species, including 2,877 grown in containers.

The projects don’t stop there, as the park currently under construction on the La Défense esplanade is underway. The work, which will continue until 2028, will allow for the greening and renovation of an additional 5 hectares of the business district.

Paris La Défense’s strategic vision, known as “Raison d’être,” aims more broadly to become the world’s first post-carbon business district by 2030, by successfully halving greenhouse gas emissions—a goal that is well on track according to the latest carbon assessment!
