TotalEnergies Takes Possession of The Link, Its New Headquarters
After several years of construction, TotalEnergies has received the keys to its new headquarters, The Link, thus opening a new chapter in its history in Paris La Défense. This landmark handover also marks a new phase in the transformation of the Michelet district.
France’s tallest tower is preparing to welcome its first occupants. In the coming months, TotalEnergies employees will move into The Link, built in the heart of the Michelet district. This move accompanies the gradual transformation of this neighborhood in Paris La Défense.
The Link, the new landmark of the La Défense skyline
After nearly eight years, The Link is entering a new phase. The keys to the tower have been handed over to TotalEnergies, which will gradually move its teams into this new complex, now the tallest tower in France. The completion of this project is the result of a collective ambition pursued since 2017 by TotalEnergies, Groupama Immobilier, and Paris La Défense.
By choosing to keep its headquarters in La Défense, TotalEnergies reaffirms its commitment to a region capable of supporting the transformations of its major economic players and, together with its partners, devising tailored solutions to their challenges.
The Link: A New Vision for Office Towers
The Link is not just the tallest tower in France. Its architect, Philippe Chiambaretta, has reimagined the fundamentals of the traditional tower to accommodate new ways of working. From an architectural standpoint, The Link consists of two towers—one 228 meters tall and the other 165 meters tall—connected over 30 floors by green walkways. Its name, The Link, refers to the “links”—the walkways connecting the tower’s two wings. Conceived as a showcase for a reimagined verticality, the building embodies a new generation of offices that are more open, more connected, and designed to foster collaboration among employees.
From an environmental standpoint, The Link has earned HQE Exceptionnel certification, the highest level of environmental performance. This certification guarantees the highest standards in terms of energy efficiency, thermal comfort, and acoustic performance. The tower will enable TotalEnergies to cut its energy consumption in half compared to its current buildings, thanks in particular to its double-skin facade, which provides better thermal insulation and incorporates photovoltaic panels.
The Michelet neighborhood continues its transformation
Around The Link, the entire Michelet neighborhood is being revitalized, thanks to the urban development project led by Paris La Défense. Designed successively by the firms Richez & Associés, then TVK and Setec, the ongoing work is modernizing public spaces while strengthening connections with Puteaux. The future traffic-calmed crossings on Boulevard Patrick-Devedjian will make it easier for pedestrians to get around and improve urban connectivity between the business district and the city. Note: This urban transformation relies on the reuse of materials.
The evolution of the Michelet neighborhood accompanies the arrival of future residents of The Link and contributes to the emergence of a more open and welcoming neighborhood.
